PFO Writing Contest Winners Celebrated at Banquet
Shout out to all of the students who won this year's Parent Faculty Organization (PFO) Annual Writing Contest. This year's theme was: What is my why? Many students participated in the writing contest and 12 were chosen as the winners.
Senior Scholar Athletes Named
The CIAC Senior Scholar Athletes were named for the Class of 2017. Daniel Kitoko, Cross Country and Track & Field and Righche Reddice, Cross Country and Girls Basketball, were honored at the Aqua Turf in Southington on Sunday.
One Read Students Honored with Breakfast
Students who were a part of the One Read program at BHT were honored with a special breakfast at 500 Palisade Cafe this past week. Students were able to bring their parent/guardians to breakfast to share and showcase their hard work.
Garden Club Works to Beautify BHT
The BHT Garden Club is a newly formed club this year at Bullard-Havens supervised by Science Instructor, Mr. Holmes. Mr. Holmes and the students (in grades 9-12) are working to beautify the school grounds.
Culinary Arts Students Attend Trip to Whole Foods
Junior Culinary Arts students recently went on a production meeting to Whole Foods. The students met with the Manager as well as workers and learned all about the store.
One-Read Committee Pays it Forward
The One-Read committee, which consists of students from grades 9-12 as well as Social Studies and English teachers, at Bullard-Havens promoted kindness, unity, and acceptance school-wide after reading the book I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai.
Automotive Students Attend New York Auto Show
Automotive students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 went to the 2017 New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Center. The students walked around and spoke to dealers and representatives from different companies. The students were also able to view the latest and greatest in auto trends.
Two Seniors Receive Art Award
Congratulations to seniors, Jennifer Baculima and Josilyn Minor who were recognized by the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) at an awards ceremony in Southington at the Aqua Turf.
Senior Hairdressing Students Host Beauty School for Survivor Services Program
Hairdressing seniors hosted an hour of "Beauty School" for 15 women from the International Institute of Connecticut, Survivor Services Program. This program works with refugees, asylum seekers, asylees, and other foreign-born survivors of torture to empower survivors to heal and regain independence.
Students Excel at SkillsUSA Competition
Congratulations to the students who represented Bullard-Havens at the annual SkillsUSA Competition. Electrical senior Porter Bember, won first place in Skills Connect Electrical. He will be travewling to Louisville, Kentucky this June with Skills to compete nationally.
